Shawky Gharib announces squad for Olympic team upcoming friendlies

Egyptian Olympic team head coach has named his side’s squad for their upcoming friendlies against Saudi Arabia in March.

Gharib, who was appointed Olympic team coach in January,  decided to include a list of 27 players which will be later decreased to 24 players as the team prepares to meet Saudi Arabia on the 22nd and the 26th of March in two friendly games.

The list included a number of players from league winners Al Ahly like Salah Mohsen and Karim Nedved in addition to two players from Zamalek.

The Olympic team are about to begin their preparations for the 2019 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations set to be hosted by Egypt. The top three-placed countries will represent Africa at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Japan.

Egypt squad:

Ahmed Yasser Rayan, Ahmed Hamdy, Akram Tawfik, Karim Nedved, Ahmed Ramadan Beckham, Salah Mohsen, Ahmed Aboul-Fetouh, Omar Salah, Walid Attia, Mohamed Essam Ghandour, Ahmed Hany Hussein, Mohamed Abdel-Salam, Mahmoud Emad, Osama Galal, Mohamed Ahmed Dessouki, Taher Mohamed Taher, Ahmed Mostafa El-Sayed, Nasser Mansy, Ahmed Saied, Mahmoud Marie, Fawzi El-Hennawy, Marwan El-Naggar, Mohamed Hussein Farag, Karim El-Iraqy, Nasser Maher, Omar Wael and Sherif Reda.

The final list which will include only 24 players will have their first training session in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday in King Abdullah Sports City, nicknamed the Jewel.

In addition to being a hardcore football fan, Abdelrahman is a communications enthusiast who works in marketing, advertising, content creation and PR.
