Zamalek’s Kabongo Kasongo receives first DR Congo call-up

Zamalek defeat Minya thanks to Kabongo Kasongo goal

Zamalek forward has been officially called up to the national team squad following the withdrawal of several players.

The 23-year-old wasn’t selected in DR Congo’s initial 26-man squad released on Friday but changes were made and less than 24 hours later Kasongo received his first national team call up, with Zamalek confirming the news on their official Twitter account.

Kasongo, who joined Zamalek from Ittihad of Alexandria in the summer, has been in an incredible form lately, scoring 11 goals for the White Castle.

DR Congo are set to face Tanzania in a friendly match during the FIFA international break on March 27 as they look to build some momentum going into the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in September later this year.
