Liverpool captain has hailed after his brilliant super hat-trick against Watford and revealed what the players did to him after the match.

After scoring four goals against Watford on Saturday, Salah is now leading the golden boot race with 28 goals, four goals above second-placed Harry Kane.

He has a massive opportunity to become the first African player to win the award since Didier Drogba, who won it twice in 2007 and 2010, and is only two goals away from breaking the Ivorian’s record as the highest scoring African in a single league campaign (29).

“For a start, it’s the confidence. You have someone like Mo who does the hardest part of the game, which is putting the ball in the back of the net,” Henderson said.

“You then, as a team, if we work as hard as we possibly can, then Mo – or even Sadio and Bobby – they are going to finish it in the final third. We had that with Luis.

“You know when you are walking out there are so many goals out there for you. It’s just about defending well as a team because you know you will create chances.”

Salah became the first Egyptian to score a Premier League super hat-trick, which earned him the match ball and Henderson revealed everyone signed it for him.

“Everyone did (signed) the ball for him. I just kept it simple for him. I just said ‘Well done superstar’.”

Luis Suarez was the last Liverpool player to score a super hat-trick before Mohamed Salah, when he netted four goals against Norwich City in 2013, as the Reds strolled to a 5-1 win.

When asked about Suarez’s quartet, Henderson said: “They are both fantastic players in their own right and you can’t compare them.

“They are different players. I know they score a lot of goals and both work hard off the ball but it is very difficult to make that comparison. They are both so good in their own right.

“Which was the best performance? I’ll have to watch the goals back! I remember Luis had a couple of nutmegs and that 40-yarder… look, they are just both fantastic players.

“Luis moved on to Barcelona and is doing fantastically well. He is a fantastic player who I was privileged to play with.

“But Mo this season has been unbelievable. Absolutely unbelievable. He is doing it every week, without fail. He’s a great lad in the dressing room and to have around the place. He is a big plus to have in the team,” the Englishman concluded.
