Wijnaldum tips Salah in three-way race over Player of the Year award
Salah is in contention with the English marksman Harry Kane, for the top goalscorer award with the Egyptian having four goals more than the Tottenham striker at 28 goals after bagging a super hattrick goals against Watford on Saturday.
While the trio have been in top form this season, Wijanldum would vote for De Bruyne or Kane for the award as players aren’t allowed to vote for teammates.
“I haven’t voted yet but, if I had to choose, I would probably vote for De Bruyne or Kane,” he told ESPN.
“Mo Salah has had a wonderful year, the same with Kevin De Bruyne. Mo has scored a lot of goals, De Bruyne has scored a lot of goals and given a lot of assists.”
The Dutch international praised Liverpool’s front three who contributed to 50 league goals this season for Jurgen Klopp’s side saying:”Sometimes, you know, they get the credit because they are scoring the goals and make it really difficult for teams, but there are more players who help them to accelerate so they can perform, and a lot of people forget that others do the dirty work so they can attack.”
