Al Masry face Mounana in CAF Confederation Cup play-off round

Egyptian side Al Masry have been drawn against Gabonese side CF Mounana in the play-off round of the .

Mounana were eliminated from the round of 32 of the CAF Champions League at the hands of Egyptian champions Al Ahly. The Red Devils earned a 7-1 aggregate victory over the Gabonese side to secure their spot in the group stage, while the Mounana were dropped off Africa’s top-tier competition.

The first leg in Cairo ended in a big 4-0 win for the Red Devils, before they earned an easy 3-1 victory in Gabon.

Meanwhile, Al Masry advanced to the play-off round after a 2-2 draw on aggregate against Simba Sports Club. The Port Said-based side played out a 2-2 draw in Tanzania before settling for a goalless draw at home.

Al Masry are Egypt’s only representative in the Confederation Cup after Zamalek were knocked out of the competition after losing to Ethiopian side Welayta Dicha 4-3 on penalties.

The first leg of the play-off round is set to take place in Gabon between 6 and 8 April, while Al Masry will host Mounana 10 days later. The 16 winners of the play-off round will advance to the group stage of Africa’s second tier club competition.
