Jesualdo Ferreira: Egypt and Morocco are different
Egypt were drawn in Group A with the hosts Russia, Uruguay and Saudi Arabia, while Portugal fell in an intense Group B alongside Spain, Morocco and Iran.
The Seleção das Quinas chose to meet Egypt who share a similar continent and region with Morocco, but Ferreira was critical of Portugal’s decision saying that both team’s playing style cannot be compared.
“Egypt has nothing to do with Morocco, they are different. Egyptians are much more aggressive, more generous,” Ferreira told Portuguese website Record.
“They [Egypt] are very obedient and a different kind of African Arab team. Morocco’s players never run away from their genetics, but their players are with a very close football culture to that of Europeans.”
“Egyptians are completely crazy about football. I know there will be a lot of fans supporting Egypt against Portugal in Switzerland. They are present all over the world,” he concluded.
