Aswan’s Hamada El-Sayed released with precautionary measures
Aswan captain Hamada El-Sayed has been released with precautionary measures after he had been detained over security concerns last year.
The 37-year-old had been apprehended amidst multiple reports at the time linking him to the banned Muslim Brotherhood, and as such has been out of action since last September.
El-Sayed was accused of joining and communicating with terrorist organisations, belonging to banned groups, planning to target vital state institutions, adopting extremist ideas and inciting to demonstrate.
Despite the strong allegations against the defender, his club Aswan stuck by him and did not release him after being detained, and even provided a lawyer to defend him.
El-Sayed’s club are currently in third place in the Egyptian Second Division, in their attempt to regain promotion to the top flight having been relegated from it last season.
