HJK Helsinki confirm the signing of Amr Gamal on loan
Finnish club HJK Helsinki have confirmed the arrival of Al Ahly striker Amr Gamal on loan until August 2018 after cutting his Bidvest Wits short.
Gamal made a switch to Bidvest in June 2017 in search for more playing time, the thing which he was deprived of at Al Ahly. However, things did not go as expected for the Egypt international.
The 26-year-old striker made 13 appearances for the South African side in the domestic league, but was left totally out of contention since the start of 2018. Gamal scored five goals during his stint with Bidvest.
Al Ahly gave their consent to Gamal to complete his move to the Finland’s giants on loan after terminating his loan deal with Bidvest.
“Our offensive department is now very strong and there is a diverse mix of different players for the coaching staff,” Helsinki’s director of football Juho Rantala told the club’s official website.
“Amr Gamal is a clever striker. The competition is becoming very tough and is developing. We want to have a competitive, energetic and offensive squad through the spring and summer.”
Meanwhile, Al Ahly director of football Sayed Abdel-Hafiz that Gamal requested to complete his loan spell elsewhere to maintain his chances in making Egypt’s World Cup squad in June.
Abdel-Hafiz stated that the club agreed on the player’s loan to preserve his interests, asserting that his loan spell with Helsinki will end on the same time his spell at Bidvest Wits was supposed to end at.
