head coach Hector Cuper spoke after his team lost to 2-1 in a friendly match in part of their preparations for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Egypt delivered a convincing performance against the 2016 European champions at Letzigrund Stadium in Zürich, which saw the Pharaohs dominating and controlling the tempo of the game, but Ronaldo managed to make the difference in the dying minutes to earn his side a 2-1 victory.

“In general, we played a good game. It was an important challenge for us to know where we’re standing and what’s our level when it comes to competing with a rival like Portugal,” Cuper said. “It was a shame that they scored two goals in the dying minutes of the game.”

“We showed something different considering the team we were up against,” he explained. “We wanted to test ourselves against the power of Portugal and to see where we are at the beginning of the preparations.”

The coach said that, overall, he is happy with the way Egypt performed against Portugal but not with the final outcome.

As for the team’s key star Mohamed Salah, Cuper said: “Salah is one of the best players we have, but behind every great player there has to be a great team.”

Egypt will stay in Switzerland as they are set to face Greece on Tuesday the 27th of March at Stadion Letzigrund.

Well they did not control the tempo of the game and were far from that. They had one good shot and a goal. They were on the back foot for most of the match

This Trainer is a Trainer for losses!
Either he loses Finals or he loses in the final time of a game (against Cameroon and now against Portugal). I dont like this Trainer and his defending tactics.
