Beto: It was very tough game, Egypt are best team in Africa
The 35-year-old Portuguese goalkeeper made his only 13th international cap during his side’s 2-1 late win over Egypt.
Beto, who plies his trade in Turkey’s Göztepe S.K., made a number of good saves, denying Abdallah El-Said and Shikabala, but couldn’t keep a clean after Mohamed Salah’s curler found the net.
“It was a very tough game. We faced a great team, if not the best of the best in the African continent,” Beto said in a post-match interview.
“When we had spaces we played quality football, but we did not play alone and we had a strong opponent.
“We are lucky to have the best in the world [Cristiano Ronaldo], he is to be able to solve and change the results.

“The team’s work culminated in Cristiano’s two goals. He is a player who makes a difference, but it is a collective victory and a good start for this period.
“In a few days, we have another game, that’s what we have to think about.
“The Netherlands are going to be more of a test for all of us, a difficult game, a good preparation game, with great demand, which is what we need,” he concluded.
Portugal will face the Netherlands on Monday in their second game in preparation for the World Cup, as for Egypt they will be facing Greece on Tuesday.
Portugal were drawn in Group B in the World Cup alongside Morocco, Spain, and Iran, while Egypt were drawn in Group A with hosts Russia, Uruguay, and Saudi Arabia.
