Amr Gamal reveals dispute with Bidvest Wits coach

Amr Gamal

After moving to Finland, Egypt international striker spoke about the dispute that happened between him and coach Gavin Hunt during his loan to the South African side.

Amr Gamal, who completed a loan deal to Finnish club until the end of August 2018, made a switch to Bidvest in June 2017 but things did not go as expected for the young striker.

“Some of the coach’s statements were misunderstood in Egypt,” Gamal told DMC Sports TV channel. “I told him about that but he took things personally which then caused a huge problem for me there.”

The 26-year-old striker made 13 appearances for the South African side in the domestic league but was left totally out of contention since the start of 2018. Gamal scored five goals during his stint with Bidvest.

Gamal also discussed his return to Al Ahly saying that he had to leave the club to get a chance to play in the World Cup with the national team in the summer.

“It’s hard to return to Al Ahly now as strikers Junior Ajayi and Walid Azaro are in good forms,” he added. The player also denied any negotiations with Zamalek in the past period.

Al Ahly football director, Abdel-Hafiz, stated before that the club agreed on the player’s loan to preserve his interests, asserting that his loan spell with Helsinki will end on the same time his spell at Bidvest Wits was supposed to end at.

“The atmosphere is great in Finland, the team plays regularly in the UEFA Champions League,” he said. “I’m in contact with the national team staff. I understand why I was not called up recently and respect their point of view since I am have not been playing recently.”

Before he left Bidvest Wits and after his dispute with the coach, Hunt also said that Gamal should not join Hector Cuper’s squad since he is not playing.

In addition to being a hardcore football fan, Abdelrahman is a communications enthusiast who works in marketing, advertising, content creation and PR.
