Tunisia team doctor reveals extent of Ali Maaloul injury
The Tunisian National Team doctor Souheil El-Chemaly confirmed Ali Maaloul picked up an injury against Costa Rica on Tuesday in preparation for the 2018 World Cup.
Maaloul suffered a first-half injury in the 24th minute but returned to the pitch after receiving treatment on the sidelines. After staying on for almost ten minutes, he couldn’t continue and was taken off.
El-Chemaly spoke to Tunisian television saying that the fullback’s injurt isn’t serious.
”Ali Maaloul’s injury isn’t serious and thank god the player didn’t suffer any leg break. He’s undergone preliminary tests and it’s proven it’s not serious. He will undergo more tests in Tunisia to make sure he is ok,” El-Chemaly confirmed.
The team doctor doesn’t know when the player will return but approximates he will be back by next month.
”We prevented Maaloul from walking on his injured leg to prevent any more aggravation.”
Al Ahly will be hoping Maaloul returns to full fitness as they prepare to kick-off their CAF Champions League group stages away from home against Kampala City Council mid-May.
