Dennis Wise: Salah, Messi so difficult to stop
Salah has been on a firing form this season with Liverpool as he holds the leadership of the Premier League top scorers with 28 goals, maintaining a four-goal difference with his chaser Harry Kane.
The 25-year-old winger was also influential to a big extent in Egypt’s pursue of World Cup qualification and will be leading the side in Russia in June.
“How many goals Salah will end up? Maybe 50, in all competitions for club and country. You’ve only got to see his ability,” Wise told Sky Sports.
“You look so many times and he has three defenders around him and he manages somehow to work it on his left foot. It’s quite frustrating as a player when you’ve got personnel that you know wants to get it on his left foot, you try to stop him, but he still gets it on his left foot.”
“It’s a bit like when Messi wants to get it on his left foot, he gets it on his left foot and scores. They’re so difficult to stop, they really are.”
The former Roma forward has a total of 38 goals in all competitions this season. He is set to take on Manchester City, along with his Liverpool teammates, in the quarter-final of the Champions League.
“What he’s done this season has been phenomenal. He’s got to be up there to win a lot of trophies as an individual. This is the toughest league I think in the world to play in. To go and get 28 goals in the manner that he has I think is frightening.”
“To be beating other Premier League teams and have more goals than them is something that you would have never have thought at the start of the season,” he concluded.
