Salah’s movement off ball is ‘best in the world’, says Paul Merson
Former Arsenal player and current pundit, Paul Merson, has hailed Mohamed Salah, claiming that the Egyptian’s off the ball movement is the best in the world.
The Egyptian has been taking the Premier League by storm, scoring 28 goals, which made him top the Premier League top scorer list, four more than last season’s top scorer Harry Kane.
He has also the Liverpool’s all-time record for a single campaign in his sights, as he needs only one more goal to set a new record.
And Arsenal legend Paul Merson has been left stunned by Salah’s incredible form this year, saying that the 25-year old is the world’s best player off the ball as well as tipping him to win the PFA Player of the Year award.
“Mo Salah – that is it. I just don’t know how you stop him because for me, he is the best in the world without the ball and when he has got it, he’s very good as well,” Merson said.
“So I just don’t know how Crystal Palace can stop him. They had a great result last time out, they needed to win against Huddersfield and with Wilfried Zaha back, they look like a better team but at the back,
“I just don’t think they’ll be able to cope with Liverpool. They will win this game quite easily,” he added.
The Egypt international will be hoping to continue his fine form against Crystal Palace after returning from the international break, where he scored Egypt’s only goal against Portugal.
He has a massive opportunity to become the first African player to win the award since Didier Drogba, who won it twice in 2007 and 2010, and is only two goals away from breaking the Ivorian’s record as the highest scoring African in a single league campaign (29).
