Statistical Overview: Should Elneny be a regular in the Arsenal XI?
Just a few days ago, Arsenal rewarded Egypt international Mohamed Elneny with a new contract after a late surge in form to step up for the lacking side, especially in the Europa League to extend the Egypt international’s stay at the club until 2022, as per some reports.
The combination of poor performances from Granit Xhaka and Jack Wilshere and a tactical change resulted in Mohamed Elneny getting more playing time. Elneny played well against Watford and AC Milan, he also won Arsenal’s Player of the Month award in January.
Arguments can and have been made as to why Elneny should start at Arsenal, or whether a move away would be better. Today, KingFut will attempt to further the argument through statistics.
For each statistical category, we will take into account that stat per 90 minutes, as the stats of other players will be inflated having played significantly more minutes and matches than Elneny. We will compare the stats of Elneny to every other CM option at Arsenal: Aaron Ramsey, Jack Wilshere, and Granit Xhaka.
Also, it is important to weigh the importance of those matches and competition level. It would be unfair to equally compare the stats in a Europa League match against a Belorussian side to a Premier League match against Manchester City.
