Klopp: Mohamed Salah is a proper striker
After going 1-0 down early on, Liverpool picked up a win against Crystal Palace thanks to Salah’s 84th-minute goal in which his touch deceived Sakho and left himself with a simple task to finish with his unfavoured right foot past Wayne Hennessey.
Following the game, Klopp piled on the praise for the Egyptian. He said, “that makes him a proper striker. If you only score on a perfect day then you cannot score 37 goals, that’s clear. [He is] outstanding. Just having him on the pitch on a situation like that is good.”
He continued, “Hopefully it stays like this, that’s the most important thing. Both goals we scored today were fantastic goals; both were team goals, both were outstandingly good play.
“We had more of these situations, coming into the box to the touchline, crossing the ball flat and hard. We could have had more players in the position, but you saw even though the boys can play better, they are still dangerous,” he added.
The result, combined with Manchester United’s 2-0 win over Swansea, means that Liverpool are two points behind Manchester United although they have played a game more than the Red Devils.
Klopp and Salah’s attention will now be diverted to their Champions League quarter-final against Manchester City in midweek, before their next Premier League game away in the Merseyside derby against Everton next Saturday.
