El Shorbagy, El-Sherbini remain on top of PSA world rankings
Egypt’s Mohamed El Shorbagy and Nour El-Sherbini both maintained their positions at the top of PSA World Rankings after April’s Top 20 list was announced.
Mohamed El Shorbagy returned to his favorite position last month and for the first time since March 2017 overtaking France’s Gregory Gaultier.
He remained on top of the list despite losing the 2018 Grasshopper Cup champions title to Rami Ashour who ended El Shorbagy’s 12-match winning streak with a 3-0 (11-8, 11-9, 11-6) victory in 50 minutes.
Ali Farag was able to enhance his position as he moved to second place replacing Gaultier as he now possesses 14,960 points, while Mohamed El-Shorbagy’s younger brother Marwan remained in fourth place followed by Tarek Momen.
Three-time World Champion Rami Ashour jumped two spots in April’s ranking and is now in the 8th position right behind Karim Abdel-Gawad who is ranked 7th.
On the other side, Egyptian World Champion Nour El-Sherbini continued dominating the list securing her spot at the top of PSA World Rankings for the 21st successive month.
No significant changes happened for the top three spots as El-Sherbini’s fellow Egyptian Raneem El-Welily remained second followed by Nour El Tayeb in the No.3 spot.
New Zealand’s Joelle King however was able to jump three spots from the 7th to the 4th position followed by Egypt’s Nouran Gohar in the fifth position.
