Amr Gamal features as HJK Helsinki beat FC Honka to reach Finnish Cup final
Egypt’s Amr Gamal came on as a second half substitute as HJK Helsinki defeated FC Honka 2-1 to reach the Finnish Cup final on Monday.
The 26-year-old striker recently ended his loan stint with South African side Bidvest Wits over lack of playing time and joined the Finnish side on loan. He made his debut for the club against Kuopion Palloseura last week.
Finland international forward Riku Riski opened the scoring for Helsinki after 36 minutes to give his side a 1-0 lead at half time.
Around the one-hour mark, the Al Ahly loanee came on to replace Ghanaian-born forward Evans Mensah. Just 10 minutes later, Nikolai Alho added his side’s second goal to edge closer to booking a spot in the final.
Just before full time, Alho was shown a straight card and his side had to continue the remaining minutes with 10 men.
Youness Rahimi reduced the deficit for FC Honka in injury time but it wasn’t enough as the game ended few minutes later with a 2-1 victory for HJK Helsinki.
Gamal’s side will face the winner between Ekenäs IF and FC Inter Turku in the final.
