Ünder believes he benefited from Salah’s sale, include him in ideal 11
The 20-year-old Turkey international joined the Italian side last summer from İstanbul Başakşehir and has set the world alight since then.
He was a target for Premier League leaders and soon to be champions Manchester City before Roma snatched the Turkish winger from their hands.
And he believes Mohamed Salah’s transfer from the Italian side to Liverpool last summer has given him the chance to impress in his debut season in Italy.
“I received an offer from Manchester City, but I did not agree. There was the project in Rome, and the attitude of the club and the coach was important to me,” Ünder told Spor Arena Plus.
“With the sale of Salah, the team [Roma] became more suited to my characteristics,” he added.
Ünder managed to score six goals in 24 appearances across all competitions, guiding his club to the third place in the Serie A and the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League, where they will face European giants Barcelona.
On the other hand, Mohamed Salah has been on fire in England, scoring 37 games and providing 12 assists in 42 games.
The Egyptian’s phenomenal performances made the Turkish winger include him in his ideal 11 alongside Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
“Lionel Messi is the best in the world, and I really like David Silva too,” Ünder revealed.
“My ideal 11 would be Alisson in goal, defended by Dani Alves, Sergio Ramos, Thiago Silva and Marcelo, then Luka Modric, David Silva, Kevin De Bruyne, Salah, Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.”
