Adam El-Abd joined Wycombe Wanderers last July after terminating his contract with Shrewsbury Town. He was promptly made Captain of the team ahead of the League 2 season. El-Abd has enjoyed a solid season with his new team, featuring in 37 games scoring one goal and providing two assists.

In the 15th minute of the match, Grimsby Town went ahead through Martyn Woolford. Through the first half, Wycombe were dominant and had a goal correctly disallowed for offside, but were unable to equalise.

The second half was much like the first, but in the 60th minute El-Abd scored his first goal in 521 days to equalise for Wycombe. Seven minutes later, El-Abd turned provider and assisted as Scott Kashket scored the winner.

The win was Wycombe’s fifth comeback win of the league season this campaign. Wycombe currently sit third place, the final automatic promotion spot, with 74 points from 41 games. They will next take on Yeovil Town on April 14 in the 42nd week of the Football League 2.
