Klopp: Salah 100% deserves Player of the Year award
Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp has asserted that Mohamed Salah is ‘100% worthy’ of claiming the Premier League Player of the Year award.
Salah has been on a sublime level since the start of the season with Liverpool, being the Premier League top scorer with 29 goals and scoring 37 goals overall this year, being on the top of race for European golden boot.
The former Roma winger faces a stiff competition from Manchester City playmaker Kevin De Bruyne, who has been pivotal in the Cityzen’s pursuit of the Premier League title. He has contributed with seven goals and 14 assists this season.
“I think Mo would deserve it 100 per cent. As his manager, I’d say, ‘come on, prove it by playing at this level for the rest of the season’. That’s how it is,” Klopp told Liverpool’s official website.
“Both players have played an outstanding season with obvious highlights; scoring goals and creating chances – which is what everyone wants to see.”
“I am happy that I don’t have to make this decision. Yes, Mo would deserve it. But if I said now that Kevin de Bruyne should have no chance I’d be lying. He’s a fantastic player and City will be champions, so he has a trophy. Maybe we can at least win the other one.” he concluded.
