Egypt’s Mayar Hany named PSA Women’s Player of the Month for March

The Professional Squash Association has selected Egyptian as the Women’s Player of the Month.

The 21-year-old had a marvelous March winning back-to-back titles as the Calgary CFO Consulting Services PSA Women’s Squash Week and Queen City Open.

Ranked at 28 in the world, Hany defeated England’s Fiona Moverley in straight games to win her biggest PSA title of her career. She then defeated fellow Egyptian Nada Abbas three games to one to win her second PSA W15 title in two weeks.

Mayar finished off the month as a semi-finalist at the Novum Energy Texas Open Women’s Squash Championship after losing out to Reeham Sedky.

Hany made her debut on the PSA scene back in December 2014 at the World Championships, eventually losing out to compatriot Nour El Tayeb. She went on to win her first ever PSA title in March 2016 when she won the Seattle Open title.

In addition to being a football/soccer and basketball enthusiast, I am currently pursuing a combined BS/MD degree at VCU. I also currently work as a Pharmacy Technician in my spare time.
