Guardiola praises Liverpool attacking trio ahead of Champions League clash
Guardiola will meet up with Jurgen Klopp for the 13th time overall and the fifth with their current sides when Liverpool host the Citizens at Anfield in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals on Wednesday night.
Their last meeting saw the Reds end Manchester City’s domestic unbeaten run in a thrilling encounter, in which Mohamed Salah’s stunning goal helped them win 4-3 at Anfield last January.
“I know the way we play is perfect for Liverpool, because they are a team that attack the space unlike any other team in the world,” Guardiola revealed.
“Especially Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, they’re so good. But I feel the best way to win is the way we try to play,” he added.
Pep has also praised Klopp as the German manager is the only one to beat him six times, saying:” Jurgen Klopp’s teams are honest teams that respect what football means. I’m sure tomorrow is going to be a good game.”
Guardiola has previously warned that Liverpool’s attacking trio are almost unstoppable saying, “It’s not just Salah, Mane and Firmino, all three, they are almost unstoppable. They’re fantastic.”
Pep’s side overcame Swiss side Basel in a 5-2 win on aggregate to qualify for this round, while Liverpool beat Porto 5-0 aggregate.
