VIDEO: El-Gamal, Homos lead Oman’s Al Nasr to first cup title in 13 years
El-Gamal was appointed as the club’s manager in May 2017 and is assisted by former Egypt international Mohamed Homos, who is best remembered for his goal against Italy in the 2009 Confederations Cup.
Al Nasr have also Al Ahly loanee Fady Farid in their ranks, after the 20-year-old forward joined the club on loan last February to gain more experiences.
The club had to beat Al Nahda, Al Rustaq, Al Bashaer, Al Shabab in order to reach the final, where they met Sohar.
In the final, Maxi opened the scoreline for Sohar in the 22nd minute, but Al Nasr responded only eight minutes later through Younis Al-Mushaifri, who managed to score again in the 48th minute to put his into the lead.
However, Moatasem Al Shibli’s stunning goal in the 56th minute meant that the two teams will head into extra time then penalties, which El-Gamal’s men managed to win to lift the title.
Fady Farid started on bench, and was used as a late substitute. Unfortunately for the Egyptian, he missed his decisive penalty, but that didn’t stop his side from lifting the cup.
