Andy Cole and Shaun Goater choose between Salah and De Bruyne
Both former English football players Andy Cole and Shaun Goater spoke about their choices for the Premier League Player of the Year award that will go to either Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah or Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne.
Salah, who maintained his outstanding performance since the start of the season with Liverpool, being the Premier League top scorer with 29 goals and scoring 37 goals overall this year, will be facing a tough competition from the Citizens’ playmaker Kevin De Bruyne, who has been key to his club’s pursuit of the Premier League title. This season, De Bruyne has contributed with seven goals and 14 assists.
“As a goal scorer I would go for Salah, but De Bruyne has been absolutely instrumental this season,” said former striker Andy Cole. “What they did for their teams this season was absolutely phenomenal.”
“I was a goalscorer and goals change games, goals win games,” former Manchester City player Shaun Goater said. “De Bruyne has been absolutely brilliant, but If I have to be pushed I’d probably say Salah because what he had done is just phenomenal.”
The next period will be vital in determining who will win the award as both player aim to take their team to the Champions League semi-finals when they clash in the quarter-final second leg.
