Carlo Verdone: I broke my phone when Salah left Roma
Italian film director and actor Carlo Verdone revealed that he threw his phone on the wall and broke it when he knew that Salah was going to leave Roma.
Salah is arguably having the best season of his professional career with Liverpool as he already scored 38 goals and 9 assists in all competitions.
During his last season at Roma he scored 19 goals and created an amazing parternship with Bosnian striker Edin Dzeko.
“I told him ‘you are the greatest’. His departure was a tragedy, now he will definitely be the footballer of the year,” Verdone posted on Facebook.
The Egyptian is in contention to win the PFA Player of the Year award, as he is one of the favourites to win it alongside Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne.
“When I found out about his transfer, I threw my phone on the wall. And last night [4th of April, Roma lost 4-1 to Barcelona in the Champions League], I felt the same way. We’re destined for eternal suffering but we don’t deserve it.” he concluded.
Salah can continue his exceptional individual season in Liverpool’s next game which is in the Champions League quarter final second leg against Manchester City, although he remains an injury doubt for that game having picked up a knock in the first leg. Should he miss out, his next game is likely to be in the league at home against Bournemouth.
