Ahmed Samy scores late as Misr El-Makassa defeat Zamalek 1-0

El-Makassa’s Ahmed Samy clinched a last gasp goal to earn his side a valuable win against Zamalek in the 30th fixture of the Egyptian Premier League.

Just 15 minutes into the game, John Antwi nearly opened the scoring for El-Makassa , but his header went inches off the left post.

18 minutes after the restart, Mahmoud Abdel-Aziz came on to replace Egypt’s International Tarek Hamed after the latter sustained an injury.

With 12 minutes remaining to full time, Assem Saeed sent an accurate through ball to Paulin Voavy, who’s shot was saved by Ahmed El-Shennawy.

In the dying moments of the game, Mahmoud Waheed’s crossed freekick found Samy inside the box, who’s powerful header left El-Shennawy helpless, snatching the full three points for his side.

Following the match, El-Makassa moved to occupy the 11th league spot with 37 points, and are set to host Al Ragaa on the 13th of April. Meanwhile, the White Knights sit third with 54 points and will face Ittihad of Alexandria on the 10th of the same month.
