Pharaohs Abroad Roundup: Saleh Gomaa features in loss to Al Batin

Ahmed Elmohamady – Aston Villa (England)
April 10 – Championship – Egypt’s Ahmed Elmohamady played the full 90 minutes as Aston Villa lost 3-1 against Norwich City in the 41st fixture of the Championship. Following the loss, The Villans sit fourth with 73 points and are set to face Cardiff City on the 10th of April.
April 7 – Championship – Ahmed Elmohamady featured in Aston Villa’s win against Cardiff City in the English Championship, thanks to a late goal by Jack Grealish in the 85th minute. Following the win, Villa sits fourth with 76 points and will face Leeds United on April 13.
Sam Morsy – Wigan Athletic (England)
April 7 – English League One – Egypt’s Sam Morsy played the full 90 minutes as Wigan defeated MK Dons in English League one. Following the win, Wigan currently occupy the third league spot with 80 points and are set to face Rochdale on April 10.
April 10 – English League One – Sam Morsy played the full 90 minutes as Wigan defeated Rochdale 4-1 in the 40 fixture of the English League one. Following the win, Wigan top the league table with 86 points and are set to face Rotherham United on April 14.
Saleh Gomaa – Al-Faisaly (Saudi Arabia)
April 7 – Saudi Pro League – Saleh Gomaa played 57 minutes in Al-Faisaly’s 3-1 loss to Al-Batin in the 25th round of the Saudi Professional League. Al-Faisaly struck first in the 30th minute through Hamed Al-Mansour. Three minutes later Jhonnattann Benites equalised for Al-Batin. Guilherme Schettine added Al-Batin’s second nine minutes into the second half before Benites completed his brace at the hour mark. The result puts Al-Faisaly in sixth place with 34 points from 25 games, while Al-Batin sit in 11th place with 30 points. Al-Faisaly will take on Al-Shabab in their final league game on April 12. Al-Batin will face Al-Feiha on the same day.
Ahmed Hassan ‘Kouka’ – SC Braga (England)
April 7 – Primeira Liga – Ahmed Hassan ‘Kouka’ was left out of the squad as SC Braga drew Feirense 2-2 in the 29th week of the Primeira Liga. Paulinho scored the game’s first goal for Braga in the 30th minute. Luís Machado equalised for Feirense shortly after the hour mark. Dyego Sousa put Braga ahead once again eight minutes before full-time. However, Antonio Briseño equalised for Feirense in the dying minutes of the match. The result puts Braga in third place with 65 points from 29 games, while Feirense stay in 17th place with 24 points from 29 games. SC Braga will next face Marítimo on April 20 in the 30th round of the Primeira Liga.
Omar Gaber – Los Angeles FC (USA)
April 7 – MLS – The Egyptian right back was excluded from the match’s squad today against Atlanta due to injury. Atlanta thrashed Omar Gaber’s side with a big win 5-0, as Los Angeles FC failed show up into the game. It’s also not known yet when will the Egyptian right back return back to the field. Los Angeles will face Vancouver Whitecaps on April 14 in the USA major soccer league.
Aly Ghazal – Vancouver Whitecaps (Canada)
April 7 – MLS – Aly Ghazal remained on the bench as Vancouver Whitecaps lost 2-1 to Real Salt Lake. Luis Silva scored RSL’s first goal in the fourth minute of injury time in the first half. Jefferson Savarino added RSL’s second goal in the 88th minute before Brek Shea scored a consolation goal for Vancouver in the closing stages of the match. The result puts Vancouver in second place in the Western Conference with 10 points from six games. Meanwhile, RSL sit in fourth place with seven points from five games. Ghazal and Vancouver will next take on Omar Gaber’s LAFC on April 13.
Amro Tarek – Orlando City (USA)
April 8 – MLS – Amro Tarek was on the bench in Orlando City’s thrilling 3-2 win over Portland. Diego Valeri scored a penalty to open the scoreline for the visitors, and in the second half he assisted Bill Poni Tuiloma to double the lead for Portland. However, in the last 10 minutes of the game, substitute Chris Mueller reduced the deficit for the home side right before Sacha Kljestan equalized two minutes later from the penalty spot and the dying minutes Dominic Dwyer snatched a remarkable win for Tarek’s teammates. After a disappointing start, this is Oralndo City’s second win in a row in MLS as they now hold seven points.
Amr Marei – Etoile du Sahel (Tunisia)
April 8 – Tunisian Ligue 1 – Amr Marei stayed on bench as Etoile du Sahel thrash visitors Kairouanaise 4-0 in the 23rd fixture of the Tunisian Ligue 1. Zied Aboughaytas opened the scoring, before Ihed Msakni scored in the second half and Alkhali Bangoura secured the victory with a brace. Following the win, Marei’s side jump one place up to stand third with 43 points, their next encounter will be against Stade Tunisian on April 14.
Karim Hafez – Lens (France)
April 9 – Ligue 2 – Karim Hafez continued to miss as RC Lens drew at home 1-1 against Nancy in the 32nd round of Ligue 2. The visitors took the lead after just one minute through Arnaud Nordin, before Walid Mesloud equalised for RC Lens in the 30th minute. The drew sends Lens to the 15th position with 35 points, six away from safety.
April 13 – Ligue 2 – Karim Hafez continued to miss due to injury as Lens drew 2-2 with Niort in the 33rd fixture of the French Ligue 2. Following the draw, Lens currently occupy the 15th league spot, just seven points away from the relegation zone. They are set to face Le Havre on April 20.
