Klopp provides Salah injury update ahead of Man City clash
German coach Jurgen Klopp assured that the team is waiting for updates from the medical staff in the next few hours and that he will evaluate his players after their training session on Monday evening.
The Egyptian star was out of action for the Merseyside derby against Everton due to an injury he sustained during the early stages of the second-half of their last encounter against Manchester City in the Champions League. He presented a magnificent performance during this game at Anfield which led his side to secure a 3-0 win.
Klopp told Liverpool’s official website that he has no idea at the moment if Salah and other injured players like Andy Robertson and Alberto Moreno are going to be fit for the Champions League quarter-final second leg.
“You can imagine, in this short period between games, it is quite difficult so I have to wait each minute I can and that’s what I’ll do. There’s nothing new in the moment, we will see,” he told Liverpoolfc.com
Klopp added: “We will see in five hours until we train and we’ll know who is involved in that. I don’t know in the moment 100 percent, but I am quite hopeful we will have a bigger squad than we had at Everton.”
With his 29 goals this season, Mohamed Salah is one of Klopp’s key players and is an essential part of the team’s attacking trio that includes Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.
“The guys who were on the bench at Everton – Ox, Bobby and Trent from the first-team squad – for them, it was good not to play too long. They are fine, they were fine when I left Melwood yesterday.
“With Mo, Robbo and Alberto, we have to wait a little bit but of course we have big hope they will be back.
“Ben Woodburn is back after a long period and trained yesterday completely normal, which is really good for us,” he concluded.
