Espérance Sportive de Tunis crowned Tunisian Ligue 1 champions
Espérance Sportive de Tunis have been crowned champions of Tunisian league after Club African failed to win their tie.
Following a disappointing 1-1 draw between Club African and Ben Guerdane, the reigning champions had to give up their crown early to Esperance Sportive de Tunis as they currently only hold 44 points while the champions have 53.
Esperance secured the title three weeks before the end of the season and they have now won 28 league titles.
Even though they have already bagged the silverware, the champions have won their game on Sunday against Metlaoui 1-0 thanks to a goal scored by Youcef Belaili.
The Tunisian champions were drawn in Group A of the 2018 CAF Champions League alongside Egyptian champions Al Ahly, Botswana champions Township Rollers FC and Uganda’s Kampala Capital City Authority.
