We’re having a great season, says Mohamed Salah
Following the Reds’ win over Manchester City in the second leg of the Champions League semi-final, Salah has now scored 39 goals in 43 games for Liverpool across all competitions this season and is not looking to stop anytime soon.
After equaling Ivory Coast’s Didier Drogba record as the African player with the most Premier League goals in a single season (29), he has now equaled Samuel Eto’o’s Champions League record as the African player with the most goals in a single campaign (8).
The 25-year-old talked about Liverpool’s win over Manchester City and his thoughts about their season so far during a post-match interview.
“They had several opportunities but we defended very well. Obviously, after winning 3-0 in the first leg you would expect them to play this way. Thankfully we scored a goal in a crucial moment, which made the rest of the game easier for us,” Salah told beIN SPORTS TV channel.
“Overall we had a great a season and this was a result of a lot of hard work not only this season but also before I came here. And now the most important thing is that we are the semi-final,” he added.
Liverpool have reached the Champions League semi-final for the first time since the 2007/2008 season, when Chelsea knocked them out with a 4-3 result on aggregate.
The Reds’ next game will be against eleventh-placed Bournemouth in match day 34 of the Premier League on Saturday.
