OFFICIAL: El-Gouna seal Egyptian Premier League promotion
El-Gouna have secured promotion to the Egyptian Premier League following their win over El-Salam on Wednesday.
They will join Haras El-Hodood, who have clinched promotion to the top tier after beating Al-Hammam in the stoppage time on Tuesday.
El-Gouna were relegated from the top tier in 2015 after finishing 16th, and now they have returned back to the Premier League at the third time of asking.
Next season will be their fifth in the Premier League, with their best season coming in 2014, when finished in the ninth place.
Their first season in the competition was the 2009/2010 one, and they managed to finish 12th, 11th, 9th, and 16th in their four seasons in the top tier.
Their all-time top scorer in the Premier League is former Al Ahly, Zamalek, and HJK Helsinki forward Sherif Ashraf, who netted 20 times in 61 games.
El-Tersana and Nogoom El Mostakbal are competing for the final promotion spot, with El-Tersana close to getting promoted for the first time in nine years.
