“I’ve changed my position many times, but in the end we play as a team. We play as 11 players and everyone gives 100 per cent, so we are happy about the result,” Salah continued.

“I’ve said many times that I play for the team and I try to score each game to try to help the team to win the games. That’s the most important thing for me.”

Liverpool secured a place in the Champions League semi-finals for the first time in 10 years, when they knocked out Arsenal 5-3 on aggregate, before losing 4-3 to Chelsea in the semis.

Salah will be hoping to become the only second Arab to lift the Champions League title after Algeria’s Rabah Madjer, who won it with FC Porto against Bayern Munich in 1987.
