Liverpool legend hailed Egypt international after he scored Liverpool’s equalizer against Manchester City as the Reds qualified to the Champions League semi-finals.

Salah was able to score an early second-half goal which killed the tie, before Roberto Firmino scored Liverpool’s second of the game to secure a memorable win for the Reds at the Etihad Stadium.

The Egyptian star has now netted 39 goals in 43 games in all competitions with Liverpool since his arrival in August 2017. Salah’s 39th goal meant he had now scored eight goals in the Champions League, matching Eto’o’s record number of goals in one campaign, the highest by an African player in the history of the competition.

“In terms of Salah, the audacious chip in a quarter-final second leg… to actually have the audacity to chip it and have that composure is scary really,” English football legend Steven Gerrard told BT Sport after the match.

Salah will be hoping to become the only second Arab to lift the Champions League title after Algeria’s Rabah Madjer, who won it with FC Porto against Bayern Munich in 1987.

“He didn’t do much else really. That’s all he needed. He didn’t get a kick all night really, but it was that one moment of class,” Gerrard added.
