Liverpool legend believes that the performances of this season grants him a shot for the FIFA Ballon d’Or award.

Salah left a remarkable impression this season with his overwhelming displays with Liverpool and maintaining a superb scoring form.

The former Chelsea winger is the Premier League top scorer with 29 goals. He also has eight goals in 10 Champions League matches this season, becoming the first player in the history of the Reds to score this number of goals in a single campaign.

Fowler argued that it is a close call between Salah and De Bruyne for the Player of the Year award.

“It is some argument to be honest. De Bruyne is absolute class, but so is Salah,” Fowler said via his Twitter account.

“Whoever wins no one should have any complaints but I honestly believe Salah’s form for club and country will see him go very close for Ballon d’Or, there I’ve said it.”
