Rio Ferdinand admits Salah still far from Ronaldo
Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has stated that Mohamed Salah is having a sensational season with Liverpool, but needs to do that consistently over the years to reach Cristiano Ronaldo’s level.
Salah has been presenting a stupendous performance since joining Liverpool last summer, coming from Roma. The 25-year-old winger has 39 goals in all competitions, being the Premier League top scorer with 29 goals.
Salah also has eight goal in the Champions League with Liverpool, becoming the first player in the club’s history to score that number of goals in a single European campaign and equaling Samuel Eto’o’s tally of being the only African players to score eight goals in a single season of Champions League.
“He [Salah] is actually showcasing a great display. However, to put things in place, Salah is having an unbelievable season. But he has to play like that for 15 years in order to achieve what Ronaldo did,” Ferdinand told BT Sport.
Salah lately played a pivotal role in Liverpool’s 5-1 cruise past Manchester City on aggregate which have seen them reach the Champions League semifinal, along with Roma, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.
