VIDEO: El-Shahat scores a brace and beats Maradona’s Al Fujairah


Hussien El Shahat netted a brace as Al Ain qualified for the semifinals of the the Emirati Presidential Cup in a 4-2 win over Al Fujairah.

Hussien El-Shahat was out of action for almost two weeks as he missed out AFC Champions league clash with Al Hilal and returned to the field as a substitute against Dubba Al Fujarah in Matchweek 20 of the Arabian Gulf League.

The Egypt International has been enjoying an impressive campaign since joining Al Ain, scoring eight goals and assisting 12 times, which led him to completing a permanent deal with the Emirati outfit for three years.

The game kicked off powerfully from the visitors as Maradona’s side find their way to the back of the net in the early stages of the game through their midfielder Mohamed Khalvan, who received a through ball inside the box and brilliantly capitalized to sweep in the first goal of the night

In the 28th minute, Omar Abdelrahman released a superb cross to Ahmed Khalil who converted the ball with a header to equalize for his side before the half time whistle

Right after the equalizer, Omar Abdelrahman again caught running towards the target, he launched a powerful pass to the Egyptian as he received it with his right leg and stroke the second but the ball clearly hit the defender who tried to block and was awarded as an own goal

Ten minutes later, Caio Fernandez fed El-Shahat with a neat cross inside the box and he slotted the ball in to extend the lead for his side and make it a 3-1

On the other side, Khaled Abdullah tried to reduce the lead as he collected the ball from Hassan Amin’s corner and managed to slot among the crowd to change the score to 3-2.

During injury time, Caio sneaked between the defenders as he received O. Abdelrahman’s pass inside the box and calmly netted the fourth goal to kill Al Fujairah’s hopes for a comeback

Following the win, Al Ain now move on to the semifinals of the competition, their next encounter will be against Al Rayyan in the group stages of the AFC Champions league.
