Salah is an outstanding player, says Jurgen Klopp
Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp wasn’t surprised that Mohamed Salah won the Premier League Player of the Month award for March.
The Egypt international became the first player to win the award three times in the same season, after he won it in November and February.
He also became the sixth player in the Premier League history to retain the award for two months in a row after Robbie Fowler, Dennis Bergkamp, Cristiano Ronaldo, Harry Kane and Jamie Vardy.
The 50-year-old manager believes Salah deserved to win the award for the second month in a row. “It’s deserved, it’s not that you think: ‘Wow, how did that happen?'” Klopp told Liverpool website.
“He is an outstanding player and we played a really good season but he is in all the decisions – in decisive moments, he is involved.
Salah has now been involved in 50 goals in all competitions this season (39 goals, 11 assists). He currently leads the Premier League’s Golden Boot race with 29 goals, four ahead of Tottenham star Harry Kane.
“Either he makes a cross or he scores the goal or whatever, he is really very often involved. He gives us all a good feeling, so everybody is really happy for him.
“I don’t think that he has always overperformed but when he is on the pitch he is always a goal threat, and that helps us a lot for sure,” he added.
