Arsenal found themselves 2-0 down in Russia, but Elneny’s two late assists to Danny Welbeck and Aaron Ramsey ensured the Gunners’ place in the next round.

And Elneny’s performance was rewarded with Player of the Week award nomination. He is up against RB Salzburg’s Amadou Haidara, Atlético Madrid’s keeper Jan Oblak, and Dimitri Payet of Marseille. You can vote for the Egyptian here.

The CSKA Moscow game was Mohamed Elneny’s 70th in an Arsenal shirt, as the midfielder committed his future to Arsenal by signing a long-term contract extension last March.

This season Elneny has made 30 appearances for Arsenal, scoring once and assisting four times, winning the club’s Player of the Month award for January.

He played all of Arsenal’s games in the Europa League this season, completing more passes (713) than any other player in the competition.

Arsenal have now reached the semi-final of a European competition for the first time since 2008/09, and they will be aiming to win their first European title since 1994.

They will face either of France’s Olympique de Marseille, Atlético Madrid of Spain, or Austria’s RB Salzburg, with the draw taking place on Friday, April 13.
