OFFICIAL: Zamalek appoint Khaled Galal as interim manager
Ehab Galal was sacked on Thursday following Zamalek’s 2-1 defeat to Ittihad of Alexandria, which extended the club’s losing run to four games.
Khaled Galal was the director of football during Augusto Inácio’s time at the Whites, and now he will manage the team on a temporary basis until the end of the season.
Ayman Taher and Amir Azmy Megahed will join Galal’s coaching staff, with Nabil Mahmoud and Ayman Abdel-Aziz remaining in their current positions.
The Whites are currently third in the Egyptian Premier League with 54 points, 25 points behind leaders Al Ahly, six behind second-placed Ismaily, and only two above El-Masry, who still have three games in hand.
Zamalek’s remaining league games will be against Arab Contractors, Al Assiouty, and champions Al Ahly. They will also face Entag El-Harby in the Egypt Cup quarter-finals.
The Egypt Cup is their only chance of lifting silverware this season, after losing the Egyptian Premier League title to Al Ahly, as well as being knocked out of the CAF Confederation Cup by Ethiopian side Welayta Dicha.
