Omar Gaber makes Los Angeles FC debut
Egypt international Omar Gaber has made his debut for Los Angeles FC as his team defeated Aly Ghazal’s Vancouver Whitecaps 2-0 in the MLS.
Omar Gaber, who recently joined the new Major League Soccer club on a season-long loan from Swiss side Basel, made his debut in the 81st minute when head coach Bob Bradley substituted Marco Urena with the Egyptian right back.
“It’s a great feeling that we won the first game for me after playing very well,” Gaber said after the match. “We have to keep fighting for the next games. Till now we performed well and I hope we continue doing so.”
Gaber is one of three Egyptian players who will ply their trade in MLS this season, with compatriots Aly Ghazal representing Vancouver Whitecaps and Amro Tarek playing for Orlando City FC.
LAFC are now third in the Western Conference of the MLS with nine points after five matches played.
