EFA announce Cairo derby date, venue
The Egyptian Football Association have announced on Sunday the date of the Cairo Derby in the final round of the Egyptian Premier League.
The Cairo derby between Al Ahly and Zamalek is arguably the fiercest rivalry in Africa and is one of the most anticipated matches in the middle east.
The day has been set for the Egyptian derby between the league champions Al Ahly and Zamalek, who currently sit third, six points behind second-placed Ismaily and two above fourth-placed Al Masry, who still have three games in hand.
And the EFA have announced that both teams will conclude their league campaign with the derby. The game will be played on Thursday, April 26 at Cairo International Stadium.
Ahly have secured their 40th league title after beating ENPPI in March and will be looking to extend their unbeaten league run against their rivals Zamalek.
The Whites’ last league victory over Al Ahly came in the 2006–2007 season, and since then they haven’t managed to beat their rivals despite playing 15 league games.
The Red Devils defeated the White Knights 3-0 in the away leg and will be looking to end the local season on a high with a victory against their arch-rivals.
