EXCLUSIVE | Al Assiouty manager Aly Maher agrees Smouha terms
Al Assiouty manager Aly Maher is set to be named new manager of Smouha, replacing Mimi Abdel-Razek, KingFut can confirm.
Maher has led newly promoted side Al Assiouty to a respectable 8th place, despite selling the club’s key man Mohamed Antar to Zamalek last January.
On the other hand, Smouha are not having a great season as they currently sit outside the top four, and have won only three games of their last ten.
The Alexandria-based club had three managers this season, namely Frantisek Straka, Talaat Youssef, and Mimi Abderlazik, who was appointed as an interim manager following Youssef’s resignation.
And KingFut can confirm that they have agreed terms with Aly Maher, with the former Al Ahly assistant manager taking charge of the club starting from next season.
Maher took charge of Al Assiouty in 34 games, winning 12, drawing 11, and losing 11. He guided the team to the Egypt Cup quarter-finals for the first time in their history as well as helping them avoid relegation.
Smouha will be the 44-year-old’s first real test as the Blues will be aiming to return to the African competitions for the first time in two years.
Despite not having the best of seasons, they can still win a trophy, as they have qualified for the Egypt Cup quarter-finals, where they will face Wadi Degla.
