Mido: Mohamed Salah is the best Egyptian player of all time
Former Tottenham and Egypt striker Ahmed Hossam Mido praised Mohamed Salah, commenting on his status among Egypt’s all-time greats.
The former Egyptian star claimed that Salah, who is enjoying an impressive form with Liverpool and the Egyptian national team, is the greatest Egyptian player of all-time.
“I know many people will disagree with this, but in my opinion, Mohamed Salah is the best player in the history of Egyptian football,” Mido told DMC satellite channel.
When asked about the differences between Salah and himself, Mido praised the Liverpool star’s mentality. “Salah’s mentality is much better than mine. When I was young I did not get any advice, and this would come to hurt me later on.
“We could see how strong he was mentally with the way he handled himself when he didn’t play at Chelsea.”
In the past couple of months, the Egyptian star has been linked with a move to La Liga giants Real Madrid after his excellent performances on his debut season with Liverpool, which saw him score 40 goals in all competitions. He currently leads the Golden Boot race with 30 goals, five ahead of Tottenham’s Harry Kane.
“Real Madrid want him, and we have all seen the poor performances of Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema with the 4-4-2.
“I was afraid that Salah might fail at Liverpool, but I think he is ready to jump to the next level. Real Madrid would be able to use his strengths,” Mido said.
There is even a possibility that Salah will meet Real Madrid in the final of the UEFA Champions League as Liverpool were drawn against AS Roma in the semi-final, while the title holders will play against Bayern Munich.
