Pelé: Mohamed Salah one of best five players in the world
Football legend Pelé has hailed Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah, saying the Egyptian is one of the best five players in the world.
Mohamed Salah has been in scintillating form this season, scoring 40 goals while assisting 11 in 45 games across all competitions.
He is currently the highest scoring African player in the Premier League’s history as well as becoming the first player in Europe’s top five leagues this season to reach 30 goals.
Recently, he was named the PFA Player of the Month for the third time this season, becoming the first player ever to achieve this feat.
“Don’t be surprised, Mohamed Salah is one of the best five players in the world right now,” Pelé told Emirati website Al Ittihad.
Salah also equaled Arsenal and France legend Thierry Henry’s best goals haul in his Premier League career. Henry scored 30 goals in the 2003/04 “Invincibles” season.
In addition to Henry, Salah managed to equal Robin Van Persie’s best record in a single season as well, when he scored 30 with Arsenal in 2011/12 as well as Kevin Phillips’ astonishing 1999/00 tally with Sunderland.
Liverpool currently sit third in the English Premier League with 70 points, only one behind second-placed Manchester United, but the Red Devils still have one game in hand.
Liverpool’s next game will be against Ahmed Hegazi and Ali Gabr’s West Brom on Saturday, April 21 at the Hawthorns.
