Dirk Kuyt: Salah wants to win trophies with Liverpool
Former Dutch international Dirk Kuyt says that Salah proved that he is a great player but he believes the Egyptian is more hungry for trophies than individual achievements.
Salah has proved to be a world class player following his great first season at Liverpool as he already scored 40 goals and produced 11 assists for the Reds across all competitions.
His performances saw several footballing legends such as Zinedine Zidane and Maradona praise him. Now former Liverpool midfielder Dirk Kuyt showed his admiration for the player but he thinks that the 25-year-old should be looking to win some trophies with the Reds.
“Mo Salah, I think he’s having a great season. I think Firmino’s having a great season and the team is doing quite well, especially over the last couple of months,” Kuyt told liverpoolfc.com.
“But at the end of the day, these are individual achievements and the next step for them will be to have a team achievement.
“The only thing then that matters is to win trophies and I think, from what I can see from these kind of players, they are desperate to win trophies as a team, not as an individual.
“As an individual, players like Firmino and Mo Salah are showing that they are doing really well, but now they want to achieve it as a team. That’s the next step and who knows, maybe they can do it in the Champions League,” he concluded.
Liverpool are going to face AS Roma in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final in their next game on Tuesday, April 24th. But before that, they will face Ahmed Hegazi’s West Bromwich Albion on Saturday in the Premier League.
