Egypt’s FA announce start date of new season

The president of the competition committee Amer Hussein announced the start date of the new season as well as the date for the final.

Thanks to Egypt’s qualification to the World Cup the dates for the start and ennding of the Egyptian footballing season will finally be normal once again, after a couple of years of very unorganized and uneding seasons.

“The new league will start on the third of August. For the first time we will once again start the tournament on its normal date. For five years we started in December and now we come back to the normal dates like the rest of the leagues,” Amer told OnSport TV channel

“The current season will end on the 27th of April but all of Al Masry’s postponed games will end on the 22nd of May,” he added

It is worth mentioning that Al Ahl have been crowned Egyptian champions for the 40th time and Al Masry will be looking to clinch the third spot on the league table by overtaking struggling Zamalek’s spot.

“The Egypt Cup final will be on May 19th as for the Egyptian-Saudi Super Cup the date has not been announced yet, the suggested date is in the beginning of August,” he continued

The only team to have secured a place in the Egypt Cup semi-final is Ismaily as they have beaten Arab Contractors in the quarter-final. Al Ahly, Zamalek and Smouha are the favorites to qualify for the same round as they face Al-Assiouty, El-Entag El-Harby and Wadi Degla respectively.

    You reporters from, do you have any information about the fans for the next season? Are they allowed to go to the stadium? Is there any information about that?

      Unfortunately no, the decision made by the EFA is still unclear and we cannot know for sure
