Didier Drogba praises Salah for breaking his record
After Mohamed Salah broke his record for most goals scored by an African player in one Premier League campaign, legendary Ivorian striker Didier Drogba hailed the Egyptian winger for his magnificent form with Liverpool this season.
Since his return to the Premier League in the summer, Salah managed to net 30 league goals with Liverpool in 32 appearances breaking Drogba’s record for 29 goals achieved during the 2009-2010 season.
“It was just a matter of days before this guy put my goal record as number one African Premier League top scorer to bed,” Drogba said on his Instagram profile. “So proud of you little bro, continue to put Our continent as high as you can.”
“Much love and blessings, like I said before The best is yet to come,” he added.
Salah will now aim to become the second African to win the Golden Boot after Didier Drogba, who won it twice in 2007 and 2010. The 25-year-old is also aiming to break Andy Cole and Alan Shearer’s record for most goals scored in one Premier League campaign (34).
