Al Ain have won the for the 13th time thanks to their 4-0 drubbing away at Al Nasr as well as second placed Al Wahda losing 3-2 at home to mid table Ajman.

Going into this weekend Al Ain were four points clear at the top with two games remaining, before Al Ain’s convincing win at Al Nasr and Al Wahda’s surprise loss to Ajman.

Al Ain’s win was a result of a hat trick by Sweden international Marcus Berg, meaning that he leapfrogged Tagliabue as the league’s top scorer this season. The result was then capped off by a penalty late in stoppage time by Ahmed Khalil.

Al Wahda let a 2-1 lead slip as the aforementioned Tagliabue opened the scoring for his side before Al Sharjee gave them the lead. Mali international and former West Ham striker Modibo Maiga scored a brace for Ajman including the eventual game winning goal in a surprise 3-2 win for the Orange Brigade.

The results extended Al Ain’s lead at the top of the table to seven points, meaning that they can not be caught this season and as such have won the league for the 13th time, extending their lead in the table for the number of titles won with Al Wasl in second place with seven titles.
