Pharaohs Abroad Roundup: Gaber features in LAFC’s comeback win

KingFut rounds up the Pharaohs Abroad action this week to keep you up to date with Egyptian players overseas.

– Aston Villa (England)

April 21 – Championship – Elmohamady played the 90 minutes as Aston Villa cruised to a comfortable 4-0 victory over Ipswich Town, further cementing their spot in the top 4. Hourihane, Lansbury, and Grabban contributed for the Aston Villa side while Ipswich’s Ward conceded an own goal. Aston Villa stays in 4th place in the EFL Championship, only one point behind Cardiff City. Their next game comes against Derby County, currently 7th place, on April 28.

– Los Angeles FC (USA)

April 21 – MLS – Omar Gaber came on as a second half substitute as Los Angeles FC completed a comeback to beat Montreal Impact 5-3. The hosts were already 2-0 up after 16 minutes. Laurent Ciman pulled one back to the guests in the 24th minute. Montreal Impact were reduced to 10 men around the half hour mark, but still Laurent Ciman completed his hat-trick and gave his side a 3-1 lead before the break. By the 57 the minute, the guests had already scored twice to equalise. They managed to score two other goals in the last seven minutes of the game to collect the three points. They’ll next face Seatle Sounders on April 30.

Amro Tarek – Orlando City (USA)

April 22 – MLS – Amro Tarek played the full 90 minutes as Orlando City defeated San Jose 3-2. Chris Mueller gave the hosts the lead after less than two minutes and Sacha Kljestan doubled their lead in the 35th minute before Dom Dwyer made it 3-0 with 20 minutes to go. Florian Jungwirth netted a late double for the guests. Orlando City will next face Colorado on April 29.

Mahmoud Trezeguet – Kasimpasa (Turkey)

April 22 – Süper Lig – Trezeguet started as Kasimpasa slumped to a 2-0 defeat away at Konyaspor. Konyaspor opened the scoring through African football legend Samuel Eto’o early on, and while Kasimpasa went on to have more possession they struggled to create any clear chances. They were made to pay in the closing minutes when Jahovic doubled his side’s lead, as the game finished 2-0. The result means that Kasimpasa may be overtaken by Yeni Malatyaspor when the latter plays their game in hand, although for now Kasimpasa remain in 9th place. Their next game is a tricky test against Istanbul giants Fenerbahce on Saturday 28th April at 6PM Egyptian time.

Amr Marei – Etoile du Sahel (Tunisia)

April 22 – Tunisia Ligue 1 – Amr Marei watched from bench as his side Etoile du Sahel booked their spot in the final of the Tunisia Cup. The only goal of the meeting came in at the 60 minute mark through their striker Amine Chermiti. The final is set to be played on the 13th of May featuring the Stars and Club African , after they overcame Bizertin in penalty shootouts. Their next encounter will be against Co Medenine on the 27th in the 25th fixture of the Tunisia Ligue 1.

Sam Morsy – Wigan Athletic (England)

April 22 – Championship – Sam Morsy played the full 90 minutes as Wigan drew 1-1 against Bristol Rovers in the 44th fixture of the English League One. Following the win, top the league table with 94 points and are set to face AFC Wimbledon on April 28.
